Berkshire Grain was started in 2008 as idea by Kevin Kirshner and Sandy Montag. Having left the granola business for several years,
it was the urging of Sandy to start the old machinery up again.
Here in the Berkshires we are nestled amidst beautiful mountains such as
Mt Greylock which offers breath taking views in all directions
the eye can see -- Vermont, NY, CT and Western MA. Great wilderness areas such as
Kennedy Park in Lenox, which offers fantastic
trails for hiking, cross country skiing, mountain biking..........best of all it's a great place to get exercise with your dog
Lenox is in the extreme western part of the state, in fact we are approximately 45 minutes to Albany, whereas Boston is
roughly 2.5 hours away. Being so far from the cities (NY & Boston) the Berkshires have always been the summer retreat for all
different types of people.
As the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, you may have heard of our community by attending concerts at
Tanglewood,

Why do you have a 617 phone number, are you really in the Berkshires? We've begun hearing this quite a bit, and thanks to the great
Yes, Berkshire Grain our corporate offices are located at 172 Housatonic Street, Lenox MA, our products are produced right here in
Western Massachusetts, and our warehouse and shipping is located at 703 West Housatonic Street, Pittsfield MA. Our products are
locally available from a variety of different retailers, restaurants, and hotels
Our phone system is what is referred to as a Virtually Hosted Phone System, which gives us advanced phone technology of a large company
without all the expensive equipment. At the time the company could only provide us with a 617 phone number and we've kept it ever since.
So while we suspect most of you reading this from anywhere in the world are trying to understand the relevance of this...........We offer this
explanation to the people living, and working here in the Berkshires -- for clarification. I am accessible here in Lenox anytime of the week
(not just on weekends ;-).
While it is nice be a local company, and part of the local economy, we also have the vision of growing Berkshire Grain into a successful, and
sustainable business for generations to come. Part of that success will be to export the values and pride of the Berkshires all over the world,
as people become familiar with our products and where these fine foods come from.
